It seems like all of a sudden, overnight, leaves are beginning to fall from the trees and the evenings are slowly getting cooler. You start to hesitate when leaving the house without a jacket and those summer dresses you waited all year to wear are becoming less appealing as September wears on. Transitioning your wardrobe from Summer to Autumn can sometimes be a bit tricky, but don’t pack away your summer pieces just yet! We have a few simple tips to help you wear some of your favourite summer clothing without freezing your buns off as the weather starts to get cooler.
Pair a brightly coloured dress with a navy or black blazer. If you are feeling a little bit more adventurous, a printed jacket/blazer can help achieve quite a trendy outfit. This will not only keep you warm on those cool Autumn days, but is the perfect outfit for transitioning from day to night.
This one’s a no-brainer. Throw on a pair of black tights under your go-to shorts or skirt. For a more casual look, pair the tights with some trainers. If the occasion calls for a smarter ensemble, wear a pair of heeled ankle boots and ta-da! – you’re all set.
Falke – Pure Shine Tights – £22
Rather than wearing a vest or tshirt with your skirts, shorts and summer jeans, wear a long sleeve white top. This will give you a chic look – especially if paired with some heeled ankle boots.
Des Petits Hauts – Vassili Blouse – £185
As you may have noticed, we have already mentioned heeled ankle boots a couple of times in this post. It is one of our favourite parts of Autumn. They are such a versatile shoe! They work with dresses, jeans, leather trousers, skirts, shorts- you get the idea. We find that light brown, nude and grey are the most useful colours as they go well with pretty much any colour.
Our next tip is an oldie but a goodie; layer up! Put on one of your favourite light weight tops with a cashmere jumper on top. The cashmere should keep you warm enough so that you can avoid having to wear a jacket as well and when you get too hot, show off the top you have underneath.
The main thing to remember when getting dressed for any occasion is to have fun with your outfit and wear clothes that make you happy and give you confidence! A happy woman is a beautiful woman. X
